The Day from 7734

What a Day! Definately not one I would like to revisit, that is for Sure! I don't even know where to begin!

I started the day with a new pair of shoes. My comfy sandles fell apart (literally) yesterday, so I had to fall back on the shoes I bought yesterday to wear at parties--so I would look a bit better. Too bad they are a bit tight!

It was a good thing my boss wasn't there, because I certainly didn't feel like working! But I plowed through the work day with less than enthusiasim.

My husband didn't go into work today--he was able to take a day off--but he had lots of honey-dos to keep himself busy. We did meet for lunch and our favorite resturaunt. It was a huge disappointment. It cost us MORE for lunch than it ever does for dinner! Plus the service was not nearly as good as we are used to getting there.

The biggest frustration of the day was that I had made a huge (for me) order of product from one of my suppliers, a week ago last Sunday night. The supplier sent me an email that they were at a conference and that the items would be shipped on the 27th. That was fine, because I need the stuff for a large event tomorrow. So, last Friday (June 30th) I got an email stating that the items were being shipped that day. I was pretty upset, because that is 3-4 days later than I was told the order would be sent out to me. So, I called...yes, for an extra $8 I could send the items USPS Express instead of the $20 I was already spending to get it out Priority. Yes, I paid WAY too much for the shipping to get it here by today. Guess what. Not here! Yep, no sign of it. So, what did I do? I shot off a nasty note and faxed it over--then followed it up with an equally nasty email. Made me feel a bit better. DH said that the supplier may never ship to me again. He may be right, but I really feel betrayed that I was told one thing, then the supplier did something else.

But my day didn't stop there. I went to Kaiser to pick up my perscriptions--stood in line for 10 minutes with another person...there were people behind the counter--but no one was helping anyone. When someone finally discovered that the line of two had grown to a line of ten, they started helping people. One of my 2 perscriptions was not renewed. Then, once I had paid for mine, it occurred to me that dh had turned some in for himself...so I had to pay again for him.

Decided to stop at McDonald's to get their 42oz Diet Coke for 99 cents. Drove right in! Once I pulled away and took a sip, I discovered that they had given me straight Coke. Blegh!! So I had to drive back through to get the Diet--and suddenly there was a line! I got the Diet..and came home! Whew! Glad to be here!

It took us all night to get ready for tomorrow. Most everything is packed in the car. I need to pack the car better tomorrow before we leave. Now it is way time for bed! The day is over!! Hurray!

4th of July

Can you believe that the 4th of July is my "Hands-down" favorite holiday? Yep. I think it is because absolutly nothing bad has happend in our family around this date, and historically the family is together and doing something fun--even if it is just vegging! lol

When we lived in the Mountains, it was illegal to own fireworks (you can imagine what fireworks can do in the forest!), but Bass Lake always puts up a HUGE display over the lake. It is wonderful. We used to go up and spend the day, but then it got so crowded that you had to pick your spot out at 4 am and we decided that was just too crazy...so we had our picnic at home or in a nearby park, then loaded up the kids in the car and drove around the lake for 30 mins during the fireworks! lol Well, sometimes they would open the "group camping" area for late arrivals, so several times we were actually able to find a parking spot and sit outside and watch the display. It was AWSOME! however, the last time we went up there it took us 1 1/2 hours to get home--and we lived only 5 miles away! We decided as a family that it was just too crazy to spend that much effort for the fireworks, so we looked around for an alternative. We found one in Madera--a small town about 60 miles from our home. (My dh works in Madera--and did so at the time, which is how we found out about it). Anyway, they had their fireworks at a park...open and free to anyone. So, we took our picnic there! It was great fun, Tons of shade, fun to watch the kids play, lots of eats to buy if you wanted to...even entertainment (dance schools, judo schools, etc). Plus, it took us only 1 hour to drive home! lol We did this until one year something missfired and the fireworks fell into a nearby business and set off a fire in their pallets! THAT was fun! We couldn't leave because the fire engines were there lickety-split and clogged up the street where we were parked. Besides, we had a ring-side seat for the action, because we actually saw the thing start! lol Needless to say, they no longer have fireworks there! *sadness*

Last year Poodle had to work, so the plans were for my husband and I to head over to Madera to see the fireworks at the Fairgrounds. Of course, that was the day that Poodle put my car up on the rocks in someone's front yard as we were taking her to work! So we wound up staying home and watching the fireworks go off all around us, because we didn't trust the car to drive anywhere.

This year we are working at the County Fairgrounds. My husband's alter-ego the Clown is making/selling Balloon Creations, and the I will be doing face/arm/shoulder/leg (and any other G-rated body parts, lol) painting for a fee. This is the first time we have done an event like this so we are anxious to see how we are going to fare. Of course, the temp is suppossed to be 104, and balloons dont really like the heat, and my paints come off with soap and water (or sweat)--because they are water-based...so we will see how we do. But the up-side is that we get to spend the day together and watch fireworks!

So, hope that each of you have a safe/sane/happy 4th!

Boring

My dd #3, aka "Pig" has a blog...which shouldn't suprise anyone since she is also a GEEK. At any rate, in her almost-latest Blog entry she encourages the reader to 'google' themselves and see what facinating things they come up with. She even shared a couple of things about herself that showed up when she "Googled" herself. Well, I thought, if Pig has a couple of things showing up on herself, then, as MY logic has it, I should have 'more' things showing up when I Google myself (since I am more than twice her age). So, I did as she suggested and put my name in to see what happened. Herein follows my entry into her blog:

"Yes, well I guess I'm pretty B-O-R-I-N-G because when I googled myself, nothing came up, until I cut it down to my first name that I am known by and my married name. Then the only listing about me is in your grandma's Obituary!

"However, I DID find your Dad's other love...the one he wouldnt marry because the first name (which, by the way is also mine) sounded too funny with his last name. Guess what! She married someone with our last name! Ha Ha!!! Isn't that a riot."

There you go...boring! lol
